Since ancient times our feet have been regarded as important for our general wellbeing. Hippocrates treated foot conditions by using simple wedges of hay and cotton to alleviate foot pain. He recognized that he could alleviate foot pain by controlling the way the foot works.
A Podiatrist is a specialist in foot and ankle disease and is able to treat many conditions that result from poor foot and ankle posture e.g. back pain.
Podiatrists also carry out minor surgery, treatments for skin conditions, specialist diabetic care, arthritis care, acupuncture, sports therapy and much more!
We have extensive experience in treating all of the below and more:
Foot and Ankle problems (e.g. plantar fasciitis, heel pain, heel spurs, corns, callous, nail problems, athletes foot, neuromas...)
Leg Problems e.g. Shin splints, calf problems
Knee Pain e.g. Arthritis, injuries, chondromalacia patella
Back and Neck Pain (many back and neck problems can be related to poor posture and function). The foot is the base and foundation for our body. The way our feet work affects the function of the whole body. Sometimes the opposite is true.
Sports Injuries & Prevention - Injured or not, Foot Orthotic Therapy may benefit you and improve your performance in your chosen sport. Many studies are now showing that Foot Orthotic Therapy proprioception (brain - foot connection and balance) and helps prevent injury from occuring. By correcting your foot function your whole lower limb becomes more efficient.
